Betty Zero (Wei Shu Xin, 魏舒昕)

At birth she was named Wèi Shū Xīn (魏舒昕), but nobody really calls her that, to the point that most people don't even know it. To the universe, and especially to her fans, she's just Betty Zero: angry punk rocker who screams her heart into the dark universe and uses her body as a form of expression most people would never have the courage to consider.
Physically, it's a little difficult to describe Betty, which is largely because of who she is as a person. If there's one truth to Betty that everyone knows about her, it's that she's angry. Betty hates corporations, she hates fascists, she hates the constant murders being committed throughout space, she hates the way the general public ignores it, and she hates herself for not doing enough to change things. She's so angry that for most of her life she was on the verge of either killing herself or going on a murder-spree killing every corporate suit she could get her hands on. What saved her was finding music as emotional outlet and community engagement.
While growing up she always loved singing, but it wasn't until she hooked up with Nadine and Jana Drechsler that she ever explored singing as a focused activity. Together the three girls began exploring with different kinds of music, finding what they liked, and realized that the most fulfilling music they could play was also the loudest and the angriest. Slowly they developed their own sound, a kind of digital punk with screaming vocals built around jazz melodies, eventually putting together their first few songs. In time they developed into a form recognizable by modern fans as the band that brought them fame: Betty Zero and the Starfighters. When touring they often bring other musicians on stage with them, but from the beginning it's always been the original three women. Shū Xīn began introducing herself as "Betty Zero," and the rest was history.
Yet beneath all of this was Betty's ongoing struggles with her body. She hates being a physical being, hates being made out of meat, and she has consistently talked about wishing she could either (a) die, (b) transfer her mind into a cloud of nanites, or (c) change the fact that she'd ever been born. Since childhood she's struggled with sickness and disability; as an adult with newfound money and fame this manifested as regular visites to her cyberdoc. Cybernetics freed her from the things she previously couldn't escape and gave her control over a body that previously felt like a trap. Betty changes her body the way other people change clothes; different limbs, different genitals, a rotating collection of supportive cybernetic prosthetics, and more.
But her most famous prosthesis, the one which she maintains no matter what, is a simple piece of cloth. Betty has always been prone to seizures, and was horrified to discover during a very early concert that the band's famous light shows could trigger them. So she began performing with a blindfold as a temporary measure, but that became such an iconic part of her performances that she maintains it to this day.
Hopefully, that little bit of history gives you an idea of why it's difficult to write a physical description for Betty. There are a few constants, but she changes herself too much for there to be a genuinely consistent look to which one could point and say "that's Betty Zero." So I've gone with a few general things listed below, including two looks for which she is particularly famous.

Betty's Origin

As her name might indicate, Betty's heritage is Chinese. Her parents both died when she was little, but they instilled in her a love of her culture that she often explores in her music. Before she started exploring cybernetics and changing her look so much, she looked like many other little girls: black hair, brown eyes, pale skin. She has always had a bad spine however, which made it difficult for her to stand up for very long or walk very far.

Starfire Betty

Though the girls gained attention from the start, Betty's breakout album was their third, simply called "Burn Starfire," from which the title track is still their most famous song. It was also the era during which Betty's appearance was at its peak rebellion against the burden of being physical and society's expectations of what she should be.
She had her arms replaced with mirrored silver cybernetics, but she also had four additional arms installed, for a total of six arms. She used all six reflective arms to create hypnotic dances during her stage performance. She also had three breasts, a penis, vagina, and she often performed entirely naked so the audience could see the full picture.
Her legs were also elongated during this period, her hair was pure reflective silver, and her eyes were glowing white lights with no pupils or irises. Just to top things off she also had long fangs, silver metal horns (like the horns of a ram), metallic claws on all thirty of her fingers, and a shimmering silver glitter embedded in the skin across her entire body.
Like every other era, Betty also performed with her famous blindfold. This one was unique though in that the fabric was very expensive reflective fabric, essentially a cloth mirror. So the blindfold that covered her eyes was a reflection of the world she saw before her.
The last bit that completed her look during this era was a supportive exoskeleton that helped her walk. Betty's spine was already always a struggle, even before she had four extra arms installed and her legs extended, so she added an exoskeleton to help her stand and walk. It was embedded into her spine at various places, and to her legs at each knee and ankle, supporting her weight and following her mind's commands to allow her to move normally. She decorated it with diamonds and had her cyberdoc give it an art deco design.
This look, known by fans as "Starfire Betty" only lasted a short while. She took it on just in time for the Burn Starfire tour, and by the time the tour was over she already wanted something different. None of her looks have ever been as famous.

Simple Betty

More recently, Betty has taken to simpler looks. She's got a typical number of arms, her limbs are all their typical length. Her exoskeleton is still there, but these days it looks more like she's simply wearing some supportive metal along her back and legs. She still changes her genitals and her chest regularly, and she still enjoys having glitter in her skin, maybe sometimes some fangs, but for the most part she looks almost like a regluar person.
Fans have taken to calling these looks "Simple Betty 3," "Simple Betty 4," and so on. Of course there's a section of her fans who think Betty's gone soft and sold out, especially since the band's sales really picked up once Betty started looking a little less extreme. Most of her fans however, especially her older ones, know that Betty's more simple looks are because it lets her spend time with her girlfriend, Ruby Violet.
The two of them are almost inseparable. They've each proven to be exactly what the other needs to survive, and Betty quickly realized that being a six-armed long-legged exoskeleton glamor-creature made it difficult to simply lay on the couch with her girlfriend. So, for Ruby, Betty has toned it down a little.

Betty's Cybernetics

Here are some descriptions of some of the things Betty has explored. When asked in interviews about her different cybernetics, Betty usually emphasizes that her cybernetics are as much a part of her as the meat. She loves her cybernetics, the capability they've granted her, the freedom they've given her from feeling trapped in meat, and sees changing them out as no different than getting her hair done.

Arms

During her Burn Starfire era, Betty had six arms. Each one was reflective silver, polished to a mirror shine. She would move them in mesmerizing patterns and—since the band always uses light shows during their performances—she could control and aim the various lighting elements in different crazy ways.
Although Starfire Betty was her most iconic look, it wasn't the only time Betty explored having extra arms. There's been at least a few times when she had four arms. She enjoys having more arms than usual, partly because it makes normies uncomfortable, partly because she enjoys the utlity, but mostly just because she thinks it's awesome.
Even when she has a regular number of arms, she usually explores different looks: different materials, different colors, etc. Since her original arms are completely gone now anyway, her arms tend to look cool and interesting even when she only has two.

Blindfold

Though technically not cybernetic, a running joke among band lore is that the blindbold was Betty's most important augmentation. It started because she's prone to seizures and the band uses significant light shows during performances, so she needed a quick way to protect herself from triggering seizures on stage. People started talking about it, telling each other about this weird band whose frontwoman was up on stage naked wearing a blindfold; this word of mouth morphed into concert attendance, who started getting into the music, and on it went.
So, the Blindfold became Betty's signature look, and it's the only truly consistent thing about her appearance. Over time it's morphed from simple tight-knit fabric intended to block light, becoming more effective and at times a little fancier, but for the most part it's just a simple blindfold.

Exoskeleton

Her most necessary cybernetic is the prosthetic exoskeleton she's been using since her earliest days exploring cybernetics. She's grown up with multiple struggles related to her spine and musculature, and her exoskeleton allows her to stand and walk normally for more than two minutes at a time. Initially it was simply the cheapest option, but she's retained it even as her wealth increased. When asked why she didn't just have a cyberdoc fix her spine and muscles once she had the money, Betty only shrugged and said it wasn't necessary.
"What's wrong with having an exoskeleton? All the coolest bitches have exoskeletons, and I'm proud of mine."
She likes to explore different looks with her exoskeleton. Sometimes it's glittery and bright, other times it's literally a source of light, and sometimes it's designed to blend into her body. She had it reinforced during her Starfire Betty era, simply to support the weight and strain of all those arms and her extra long legs. During her Simple Betty era, her exoskeleton is usually fitted to the curves of her body.

Eyes

Betty loves changing her eyes, especially making them weird. Crazy colors, cool designs, sometimes glowing, sometimes flashing, or lots of other things. One time she paid a small fortune to have eyes that were basically transparent, letting people see inside her skull.
One of the reasons she likes to change her eyes is because of her famous blindfold. Since no one ever sees her eyes on stage, she enjoys letting it be a surprise when she removes the cloth. Some of her fans take bets on what her eyes will look like after each concert or when she gives interviews. Other fans claim that Betty's eyes—especially the timing and specifics of how she changes them—are a secret code that she's trying to send.

Genitals

Betty always uses she/her pronouns, but nobody knows if she's originally a trans woman, cis woman, or what. Betty never answers the question and usually just makes fun of people who ask her about it. She changes her genitals quite often: penis, vagina, both, neither, different shapes, different sizes, she's constantly exploring. She also enjoys changing her chest; she'll get small breasts, huge ones, she'll have three or four of them, or occasionally she'll have none.

Horns

Betty has experimented with many different kinds of horns. Small forehead horns, gigantic monstrous horns that required extra support from her exoskeleton, curled horns, straight horns, short horns, long horns, and every variation thereof. She likes horns, and often jokes that it's because it gives Ruby something to hold onto.

Legs

Betty likes to experiment with different legs. Sometimes longer or shorter, but sometimes she enjoys just having different shapes. For example she might choose to have her legs bent backwards like an animal; when she does this, she also sometimes likes to replace her feet with hooves (such as the time when she looked a lot like a demon).

Skin

Betty has never actually replaced her skin, but she does like to change it up. It's almost always her usual natural pale skin, but she likes to embed glitter in it (usually in a color that matches her current theme). Or sometimes she'll have a cyberdoc flood her skin with light-emitting liquids, so much that her entire body glows brightly for a few hours. This is usually just for concerts, and often leaves her feeling extremely sick for several days afterward, but she loves it too much to quit.

Other

There's also lots of other small things she likes to experiment with. Sometimes she'll have pointed elf ears, one time she even had no ears at all. She's changed the chape of her face a few times, she's split her tongue in different ways only to put it back the way it was. She's had fangs, or sometimes all her teeth are sharp, sometimes they're regular teeth, sometimes they're chrome, sometimes they literally glow. Betty gets tattoos placed and removed the way other people change makeup, usually very large ones. A few times she's had a prehensile tail installed. There's lots of different things she's explored over the years.

Betty's Clothes

As mentioned earlier, when she's singing Betty is often completely naked. But she does also like to explore different clothes. Originally, her look was almost exclusively gothic punk vibes. Lots of black, leather, PVC, metal, spikes, that sort of thing. Most of it was ripped or worn, usually just because she was poor but also as part of her aesthetic.
Once she met Ruby, Betty started getting into the NeoGangster aesthetic that Ruby favors. Her style is a lot more feminine than Ruby's though; she likes flapper dresses and ball gowns, modified to accomodate whatever her cybernetics are at the time, and usually glowing. She favors the colors purple and pink, just like Ruby, but usually she enjoys sheer bright white.

Betty's Hair

As with her cybernetics, Betty loves to experiment with her hair. Sometimes she's bald, other times she's got hair so long she needs to hire someone to carry it behind her. Usually though it's long enough that it hangs down to her waist. She generally keeps her hair in braids or buns inspired by old Chinese fashions; she especially thinks it's fun to use an encient braided look, but do it with glowing pink hair.
