Xiù Míng never wanted the life she lives, even though she chose it. She grew up comfortable, having everything paid for by StarrCorp, the company that owned her parents' employment contracts. All that went away when she saw through the lies and realized that corporate brandwashing is just so much bullshit that allows them to control and own everything and everyone. She gave up a cushy job and a comfortable life, living now in a Free Zone.
By contrast, she may have given up the comfortable life for truth, but that doesn't mean she doesn't miss it. Xiù Míng craves comfort and luxury, so she took the only job that brought her close to those things, working as a Courier. Whenever someone wants to move data, but they don't want a trace-log of emails and text conversations, they hire people like Xiù Míng to physically carry it to the intended recipient. She's carried top secret corporate information, private messages between gangsters looking to betray their organization, maps and schematics between cyberpunks planning heists, and anything in between. She's even smuggled a few physical items from time to time, but in this age data is the most important medium.
Xiù Míng is inspired by a video on Xiaohongshu. I stumbled across it randomly one night, and this character formed herself in my head. She strutted into my imagination, told me exactly who she was, and though she didn't make any demands on me I simply knew I absolutely had to write about her. She's a social butterfly who spends as much time as she can at wealthy parties full of powerful business people. Her Chinese mother and Russian father both died when she was a teenager, leaving her with a small inheritance that she squanders on alcohol, limousines, caviar, and expensive escorts.
Though she's not rich anymore, she presents herself as if she still is. The two most expensive items she owns, her prized possessions, are her oversized fur coat and hat. Both are gray, fluffy, and so large that she almost disappears in them. They match her silver-gray hair, and she alternates between claiming her gray hair is natural or dyed, but she will happily tell people about how expensive her coat and hat are. She's also incredibly arrogant; she's beautiful, intelligent, and very capable, and she knows it. Xiù Míng's ego can be a problem sometimes because she often forgets that other people are willing to gun her down at a moment's notice, so she often mouths off rudely to gangsters with guns.
Beneath her coat and hat Xiù Míng is slim, average height, with sculpted curves and features. Literally, sculpted. She's paid cyberdocs to shape her body, and they did their work well. Though she's slim she has curved hips and a rounded backside, flat stomach, large breasts, long legs, slender arms, and a delicate neck. Her face is soft, with rounded angles, a delicate chin, full lips, ice-gray eyes, a pert nose, and carefully arched eyebrows. Her skin is pale and soft, her hair is long and well kept, her feet and hands are small and delicate, her fingers are long and agile, her nails are perfect stilettos formed of shiny silvered nano-alloy that almost can't be broken.
Her wardrobe isn't as expensive as her coat and hat, but she works hard to find the most expensive things she can manage. Much of it is thrifted or stolen, and she tries to stay up-to-date with current fashion among the wealthy elite. Her current favorite is a burgundy flapper dress that hugs her body in all the right places. She also wears a pearl necklace and elbow-length gloves, both of which glow red when she wishes but look pure white when she turns the glow off. Her favorite earrings are a pair of long pearl drops on silver chains. Her favorite shoes are a pair of silver mold-metal stilettos with ankle straps.
Her makeup is always in the latest fashion; dark smokey eyeshadow, dark burgundy lipstick, rosey cheeks, and perfectly sculpted eyebrows. Her hair is long, down to the middle of her back, mostly light gray with some darker sections that give it depth. Sometimes she pulls it up into a fashionable style to accentuate her neck, but often she simply lets it flow freely.
Xiù Míng's most prominent cybernetics are her eyes, but they're actually formed of TruFlesh, which makes them look like typical organic eyes. The only visible cybernetics she carries are a series of three slots on her right temple, with which she can download directly from a physical connection. There is a thin, narrow line that stretches from her input slots to the corner of her right eye. She often pulls her hair back behind her ear, letting people see the input slots, almost as an advertisement of her profession.
So yeah! That's a description of Xiù Míng Alekseeva, the arrogant cyber-courier!
